The apple pie envelopes the air in my home
On an October afternoon.
The air piles up with joy,
And smiles gather in the room
As each family member takes a piece,
And eats it with pleasure and little bites.
As I sit there,
I notice how great the fall weather really is;
Warm greetings,
Leaves falling from tall trees,
And birds enveloping the air like whiskers on a man's face.
Little children jump in piles of leaves,
And smile with joy
Because they know that the smell of Thanksgiving is nearby.
Shortly after, we settle down and finish our apple pie;
The sensational laughter that is so contagious
Suddenly sneaks up behind me
Leaving me with a giggly stomach,
And a cramp for hours.
October is a time when people gather together and create memories for a lifetime.
October gives off happiness that envelopes around my warm, healthy heart.
Kirsty! You're beast! :) This poem really captures the feelings of fall and how you spend time with your family. I loved the line 'they know that the smell of Thanksgiving is nearby' :)
ReplyDeleteEffective portrayal of fall and the feelings it greats. Great imagery, and great piece overall!
